David was invited to participate in a Sesame Street performer workshop (sometimes called a "cattle call") in the summer of 2007. During his week-long experience, he worked with Sesame performers Kevin Clash, Joey Mazzarino, and Marty Robinson.

In 2008, David had the privilege of working on Season 39 of  Sesame Street.

In episode 4170 , he played a green Anything Muppet that the cast affectionately called "Stephens," in honor of David's first episode of season work.

David returned to perform a Muppet cow in episode 4176. He also dropped Super Grover into frame for his signature crash landing.

Families Stand Together: Feeling Secure in Tough Times was produced and aired in 2009. David puppeteered an Anything Muppet likeness of veteran Muppet performer, Jerry Nelson. During the shoot, he worked alongside Matt Vogel, Fran Brill, and Bill Barretta.
